In 2003, H2 Learning partnered with the Digital Hub Development Agency to develop the Digital Hub Learning Initiative.

Running for 10 years from 2003 to 2013, the programme consisted of a range of creative digital media projects with schools and community groups in the Dublin 8 area. The programme has reached out to local schools, colleges and community groups with projects involving over 12,000 participants.

Dare to be Digital

H2 partnered with The Digital Hub to coordinate the Irish leg of Dare to be Digital from 2009 to 2013. 3rd level students from colleges throughout Ireland developed video game ideas and working on their application to the competition. Each year, the winning team spent nine weeks at Abertay University in Scotland, where they received mentoring from industry experts and developed a prototype of their video game.

Memoirs of Guinness

This project introduced former employees of Guinness to the world of digital media to produce a series of 12 podcasts. Over 30 people received training on how to create podcasts using audio, text and images. Their stories capture the influence of the Guinness Company on life in Dublin during the last century, particularly for those living in the shadows of the brewery.

You can access the podcast series here.

Schools Broadband Exemplar

The Schools Broadband Exemplar Project in Presentation Secondary School Warrenmount, Dublin 8, looked how the potential of the 100Mbps schools broadband network could be maximised to enhance the learning experience for students and to support the technology needs of the school and local community. Key aspects included teacher CPD, strategic planning and the piloting of  learning, teaching and management solutions using the high-speed broadband connection.  One of the most innovative aspects of the Schools Broadband Exemplar Project was the establishment of a ‘Connected Classroom’ at Warrenmount, whereby the school offered a dedicated higher-level Leaving Certificate Maths class through a video link-up with its sister school, Coláiste Bríde in Clondalkin.
