Skills4Work

What is Skills4Work?

Through a combination of targeted training and two-way communication between local enterprise and participating VET centres, the Skills 4 Work project supports Vocational Education and Training (VET) teachers, their students as well as local enterprise to provide the best pedagogical approaches and tools for students’ qualified entry into the world of work. Skills4Work is a project funded by the Erasmus + Programme through Léargas, the Irish National Agency. H2 Learning is the project coordinator for Skills4Work.

Skills 4 Work: An overview

Rationale: A lack of workplace experience and related skills and competences is one the factors contributing to the ‘skills gap’ in the EU today, where many young people face unemployment. From an employer’s perspective, a skilled workforce is getting harder to find.

Aim: To improve work experience pathways for VET students. This aim is achieved through the sharing of knowledge around work-based learning (ie. Internships, apprenticeships, mentoring) between local enterprise and VET centres so that students can benefit as much as possible from a work experience placement.

Method: Develop a set of practical, work-based learning implementation guidelines. Develop professional training programmes for VET teachers to embed in their teaching practice. Establish a basis for local enterprise to pair with VET stakeholders and share knowledge.

Project Target Groups: VET organisations, VET providers, VET teachers, VET students, enterprises, policy makers, research bodies and experts.
